Student Story Meena lives at home with her grandparents and her older brother. Her grandmother isn’t able to work anymore but her grandfather is still able to work as a hired worker in the rice / corn fields where he can make $8-10 USD when he is able to find work. Her father is in prison due to substance abuse and her mother moved to work in a different province. The grandmother said that the mother sends about $30 USD a month back to help support Meena. Meena said at school she enjoys studying her Thai language class. When she has free time she likes to play with her friends. When Meena gets older she said she would like to become a teacher so that she can teach kids. They are asking for this scholarship through the MOT foundation to help out with Meena’s education fees.
